Andrew Galston's Stories
Andrew Galston left New Cumnock an amazing 70 years before I gave him a call to discuss his letters presented to the Cumnock Chronicle but at the grand age of 92, his memory of his days in New Cumnock are of great interest not just to me but I would imagine anyone who is a regular visitor to this site. Andrew was kind enough to send me scans of his letters for inclusion here and has promised many more. Although registered blind, he can find his way around a keyboard perfectly well and writes a fantastic letter with the skill of a very intellectual man. I only spoke with him for around 30 minutes but in that short period I could tell the man was a gentleman and a scholar. For those of you who do not have access to the Cumnock Chronicle, Andrew's scans are listed below, with his full permission, for you to view on line or download.
